Teen Driver Loses Control-Passenger Dies

Last week, another teenager lost his life to one (or two) of the most common driving mistakes teens make.

At 7:30PM Sunday night, two teenagers were driving on a rural road when the 17-year-old driver lost control and went through a guide wire fence and crashed into a tree. The driver survived and is in the hospital and the 17-year-old passenger pass away at the scene.

It's too early to tell exactly if speed was a factor but over-correction was probably part of the reason why he lost control.

Over-correction happens when a driver begins to lose control and quickly over corrects the steering wheel causing the vehicle to spin. Teen drivers commonly make this mistake because they don't realize the effect of a hard turn at high speed will have on the vehicle.

With a holiday weekend coming up at the end of the month and summer approaching quickly, we must make sure we have pertinent conversations with all inexperienced drivers who might not know how to handle the power and speed at their disposal.

We hope this helps. For more free information, please visit www.teendriverinsurance.com/stromsoe for many helpful tools. Also, please scroll down and review all of our blogs.
